The Beginning

3D-printed replica of the bullets used at the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, marking also the beginning of the modern-type of war.

"The effect of historic distancing (in the sense of defamiliarization, as encountered in the writings of Bakhtin) is obtained through the framing and encapsulation of a tridimensional replica of the bullets with which the emperor Franz Ferdinand has been shot, bullets responsible for the start of the First World War. The conflict’s genesis is thus not only conserved in the collective memory but also historically suspended in the manner of a postmodern relic, a self-ironic copy." (Cristian Nae)
